What do a clear blue, sunny sky, pleasant temperatures and a group of retired teachers in an idyllic, natural island setting create? A wonderful time spent enjoying each other’s company and the fine indulgence of a splendid array of scrumptious savoury and sweet hors d’oeuvres. Such was the scenario on Thursday morning, September 16th, when 18 to 20 MARTA Branch members attended a social outing on Middle Island, catered by renowned chef, Brian Matheson of Mind Full of Food. Given that many members have not seen each other in some time, as social events have been few and far between, due to the ongoing pandemic, it made for light and easy conversations, interspersed with great moments of wit, humour and laughter. The crowd assembled may have been small in number, but their enthusiasm was immense.
As the morning dwindled all too quickly, members departed contentedly, their appetites satiated and pleasant remarks iterated, with the common sentiment of, “Let’s do more of this type of outing”. Agreed, we definitely shall do so!
