I have struggled with what I could write here. Suffice it to say that I am honoured to be serving as President of the MARTA for the next two years. I’ve managed to meet some new friends and reconnect with some past ones (some from 40 years ago!) already this year.
My role as your President is very simple. I will represent your wishes and concerns locally as well as at the Provincial table with NBSRT. As I said once when I was a Director for the local NBTA Branch 1608, nothing makes a President look better than having good people around him or her. To that end, I think we have a great group of people on our Executive and look forward to working with each of them closely over the course of the next two years.
Please, don’t hesitate to contact me whatever way you feel comfortable. We’d love to hear your suggestions for activities that you would like to see. I’ve included the best contact information below. Remember, retirement is about having the time to do the things you always wanted to do when you were teaching, but couldn’t because you stayed up late marking, worked Sunday afternoon making gingerbread men, supervised the school dance or hockey game, or just needed some alone time with a coffee or tea (or a glass of wine) to recharge.
Let me take this chance to wish you a wonderful year and that I hope to see you out at one of our events.
