Tuesday, March 28th, saw thirty-five members of MARTA gathered at the Nelson Senior Citizens’ Centre (The Little White School) to enjoy a delicious, potluck luncheon, followed by a live auction fundraiser for the MARTA Scholarship Account. The event was a great success overall, as members present enjoyed lively conversation, good humour and the sharing of a delicious meal.
A 50/50 draw was held, along with the awarding of 2 gift certificates, based on the winning members who had either the “lucky chair” or the “lucky napkin” at their respective tables.
Winners of the gift certificates were MARTA President, Grant Hendry, and Donnie O’Neill.
The winner of the 50/50 draw was Anne MacDougall.
Special thanks from all members to Lois Gilliss, Wellness Committee Chair, and her team, for having arranged this event, as well as setting up the facility to host. These fine efforts definitely yielded an opportunity for much enjoyment by members.
Special thanks also goes to Donnie O’Neill and Tony Vandijk, who kindly gave of their time to serve as the event’s auctioneers and who kept everyone present well entertained with great quick wit and humour. As the auction concluded after frequent gales of laughter from all members present, the result of an activity of much fun provided an impressive sum of three-hundred-and-twenty-five dollars for deposit into the MARTA Scholarship Account. Thank you to the bidding members who made this possible. Well done!
This particular MARTA social event was the prefect way to usher in the much-anticipated season of spring.
