Pleasant weather set a positive and welcoming tone for the day, as the MARTA Branch of NBSRT held its AGM and Dinner on Wednesday, May 28, at the Renous Recreation Centre, with 73 members in attendance. Among other items on the agenda, the meeting saw the following members elected to the following positions by acclamation:
President: Barb Hondas
Vice-President: Vacant (VP urgently needed for this crucial position)
Member at Large: Lynn Pritchard
Reflections Branch Correspondent: Bill Buggie

Towards the conclusion of the business meeting, Dale MacRae, Chair of the 2025 NBSRT Fiftieth Anniversary AGM Planning Committee was presented with a gift as an acknowledgement of sincere thanks for his dedication and diligence, which resulted in a record-breaking turnout of members from all 10 branches of NBSRT, on May 13 and 14, at the Rodd Miramichi River Hotel. Overall, it was a stellar event long to be remembered well.

Finally, as the business meeting concluded Merle Milson was invited by President Charlotte Casey to come forward to say grace. However, when he arrived at the microphone a surprise awaited him: he was commended for his 13 years of service as Reflections Branch Correspondent, and 4 years during that period also as Treasurer of MARTA, as well as 1 year as mentor to Patsy Kingston, when she assumed the position. After remarks of appreciation for his dedicated service, Merle was presented a framed Certificate of Merit from the Executive Committee and General Membership of MARTA.

The meal enjoyed by all present was a delicious, roast turkey dinner with all of the trimmings, choices of pies for dessert, prepared and served by community rec centre volunteers.
Winner of the always popular 50/50 draw was Janice Travis-Mutch, who went home with the tidy sum of $180.00.
Non-perishable food items and cash donations are accepted at the Fall General Meeting and at the AGM, each May for the Miramichi Food Bank. In addition to the food items donated, members generously gave $330.00 at Wednesday’s event. Remarks of sincere appreciation to the member of MARTA were expressed by the food bank volunteers for their kindness when the money and food items were delivered. The Miramichi Bank is a very worthy organization, and it is a crucial service provided to those in need.
